1. What is SHIAMAK Summer Intensive Program?

The SHIAMAK Summer Intensive Dance Program is designed to give students from all across the world the opportunity to train and study dance and performing arts in a professional environment in Mumbai. The program is for students of the age 18 years and above and is structured to advance the technical skills of dancers in a wide variety of techniques and improve their dance vocabulary.

Classes are 6 days a week from 9am to 9pm and over the course of 3 weeks.

 

2. What is the eligibility criterion?

The applicant must be above 18 years of age and physically fit to join the intensive program.

 

3. How do I apply for the program?

You can apply by sending in a 2 minute video along-with your details to summerintensive@shiamak.com. The video must showcase your talent and dance ability.

 

4. What are the criteria to get selected for SHIAMAK Summer Intensive Program?

There are no criteria’s as such. You must meet the standard of fitness and dancing that the program sets which will be seen as per the video sent across to us.

 

5. When will I get to know if I’m selected?

You will get to know of the same via e-mail from summerintensive@shiamak.com . the same will be told to you within 48 hours.

 

6. What will I learn at SHIAMAK Summer Intensive Program?

Students attend a daily ballet class, a daily modern technique class of Contemporary and Shiamak Style (Shiamak’s signature style of movement and choreography), supplemented with various other styles such as Hip Hop, Shiamak’s Bollywood Jazz, Shiamak’s Inner Dance Movement, Salsa and Film & Linguistic Program.

 

7. What will be the hours of training and how many times a week?

Classes are 6 days a week from 9am to 9pm and over the course of 3 weeks.

 

8. Will I get a certificate at the end of the program?

A certificate will be given to everyone who attends the program. One must have at least 80% attendance in the 3 week intensive to receive the certificate of completion.

 

9. Will I get help in my stay in Mumbai for the program?

Housing and drop facility are provided by us. Housing costs shall be bourne by the student.

 

10. Will you take care of our meals during the day?

Breakfast for students who are staying at the housing facility provided by us will be given. Snacks in the middle of the workshop will be given at the venue itself. Lunch and dinner will have to be taken care of by the Students themselves.

 

11. What all do I need to carry with me for the Program?

You will need to be in appropriate dancewear for the same.

 

12. What is the cost of the Program?

For Indian Nationals : INR 25,000/-

For International Students : USD $820/-

 

Tuition fee is due in full by May 1, 2014.

A Late Fee will be charged to payments received after due date.

International Students may receive a $100.00 tuition discount by paying in full by April 20, 2014.

Housing costs are seperate.

 

13. What are the things to consider before applying for the Program?

• You must be free from 4th May to 25th May 2014.

• You will be required to travel to Mumbai for the intensive.

• The classes will be for long hours and strenuous. You will be required to be there for all classes at all times.

• You are not allowed to question the content of choreography.
